Siam Queen Thai Basil is an 2017 All America Selections (AAS) winner; a sweet basil with licorice flavor and really unique, showy flowers when compared to the regular basil. Very productive, long season, a great one for compact growing spaces.

Thai Basil (Ocimum basilicum) produces dark green/purple arrow shaped foliage with a captivating anise/licorice aroma and flavor. This is an easy to grow variety that’s compact (to 24" tall) and very productive. Thai Basil can be harvested and eaten fresh in salads or stir-fries or dried for use in roasts and stews. Pinch the purple flowering tops to encourage continuous production. Alternately, allow to flower to bring the pollinators; basil makes an excellent bee forage!

Known as "Gobo" in Japan, burdock root (Arctium lappa) is a delicious food highly valued in Japan; it is often grated and included in ferments (Kimchi), or cooked as a main or side dish. We like to dry roots for rehydrating in soups and stews in the wintertime, adding a nutritional punch to the meal. Burdock is a biennial, taking two years to flower and set seed. The root can be harvested in the first year.

Neon (Calendula officinalis) is a rather unique looking calendula entry. The deep red-orange blossoms have a denser, more complex pattern than most other varieties. When in bloom this plant practically glows in the garden. Plants to 30 inches tall are easy to grow, providing abundant blooms from spring to autumn and beyond in mild winter climates. Attractive to beneficial insects and pollinators of all kinds. Edible and medicinal flowers. Certified organic.

This romantic cosmos (Cosmos bipinnatus) variety is a dreamy addition to any garden or farm, attracting plenty of butterflies and hummingbirds with its abundant pink accented blooms. This flower is heat and drought tolerant, prefers low fertility soil and is perfect in bouquets or for pressing. Extremely easy to grow, branching plants can reach heights of 4-5 feet and will bloom for multiple months especially if flowers are being harvested regularly.

Cosmos Flowers are spring grown annuals, typically producing flowers in 65 days when seeded under ideal soil and climate conditions.

Nettleleaf Giant Hyssop (Agastache urticifolia) is a licorice mint native to Southern California. Spire-like pale purple flowers eventually mature to a near white.

Native to western North America, California Poppy (Eschscholszia californica) is one of the easiest-to-grow wildflowers. Perennial in mild climates and readily re-seeding in all climates, California Poppy stays put once established, is not picky about soil, and requires little attention. It will bloom year-round in Mediterranean Southern California. Its silky orange flowers are attractive to bees and other pollinators.

The entire plant is used medicinally by indigenous peoples of the west. A tea made from the leaves and flowers has known sedative and anti-anxiety effect, along with aiding a troubled sleep.
